All this month we’re posting high-resolution videos of the sessions from HandmadeCon 2015. This next session is with Pat Wyatt, co-founder of ArenaNET and one of the main programmers behind Warcraft, Diablo, and Guild Wars. I talked to Pat about game network code, an area in which he is one of the world’s foremost experts, having written both the in-game networking code for some of the world’s most popular games, and the back-end network code for multiple massively-multiplayer games:
There’s tons of great information in this session. Everything from synchronous multiplayer to asynchronous multiplayer to dynamic binary diff patching to client/server protocol versioning comes up, so if you’re interested in game networking code, I’d highly recommend watching this session from start to finish.
