All this month we’re posting high-resolution videos of the sessions from HandmadeCon 2015. This next session is with Mike Acton, technical director at Insomniac, the studio behind the Ratchet and Clank series, Resistance, Fuse, and Sunset Overdrive. Mike talked to us about a whole host of topics, ranging from the original pitch document for the World Wide Web to whether object-oriented programming helps with large-scale software development:
Of particular interest to aspiring game developers was Mike’s answer to the question of what he looks for in prospective hires. I won’t spoiler the video for those who haven’t seen it yet, but suffice to say, it was one of the most succinct and insightful answers to that question I’ve heard.
HandmadeCon 2016 is November 19th-20th.
